The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a warning for severe thunderstorms across the Gauteng & other provinces.
The weather bureau says severe thundershowers are expected in the late afternoon into the late evening over Gauteng, the north-eastern areas of the North West province, the extreme south-western parts of Limpopo and the Highveld of Mpumalanga.
It says there is potential risks of heavy rain, large amounts of small hail, damaging winds and also a risk of localised flooding.
“There is a risk of trees being uprooted due to the winds. This might result in damage to infrastructure and property, as well as danger to humans due to flying debris.”
Motorists have been advised to drive cautiously during the adverse weather conditions.
