Police have arrested more than two hundred and fifty suspects in three days for various crimes across Mpumalanga.
The operation was part of the Safer Festive Season campaign where police carried out stop and searches, vehicle check points, compliance inspections, patrols at border ports and visibility in shopping and public areas.
The suspects were handcuffed for a number of offences including murder, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, driving under the influence, possession of suspected stolen properties and contravention of the immigration act among others.
Mpumalanga Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela has welcomed the 255 arrests and efforts made in the fight against crime.
Police say the safer festive season campaign will be intensified as Christmas and New Year draw near where roads are expected to swell with motorists that will be traveling to their various destinations.
