Eastern Cape police Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene has ordered the activation of the 72-hour plan to track a group of suspects involved in the fatal shooting of four people in Gqeberha.
Officers responded to a shooting on Thursday and found two riddled with bullet holes.
The police’s Tembinkosi Kinana said the bodies of three victims were found lying in the street, next to the vehicles while a fifth victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds and rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Kinana said the Provincial Organized Crime Investigation team in Gqeberha is investigating four counts of murder and one case of attempted murder.
“Police also recovered two 9mm firearms that were found on the scene. An intensive search for the suspects is currently underway, however no arrest have been made at this stage.”
Kinana has urged anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the police.
