Lenasia police investigating several cases of murder & inquests

Lenasia police are investigating a number of cases in the suburb including attempted murder, murder and inquests. 

In the first incident, police received a complaint of a dead body at an open veld opposite Bangalore Drive, Lenasia 11A.

On arrival, officers found an unidentified male lying on the ground without any movement. 

The police’s Bafana Ndimande said paramedics were summoned to the crime scene and certified the victim dead. 

“He was further estimated to be between 45 and 47 years of age. The deceased had no visible injuries. He was wearing a Blue jean trouser without a shirt. The pathologists transferred the deceased to Diepkloof Government Mortuary. The cause of death is unknown at this stage.” 

Ndimande said police are investigating a case of inquest.

Meanwhile, police also received a complaint of a dead body at Lenasia South Clinic. 

On arrival, the officers found an on duty nurse who took them to an isolation room where she pointed out to them an unidentified man. 

Ndimande said officers were informed that the man was certified dead on arrival. 

“The deceased sustained visible injuries to the upper body and was alleged to have been assaulted at Lehae RDP houses (Lenasia) by unknown persons. The pathologists transferred the deceased to Diepkloof Government Mortuary. The motive for murder is unknown at this stage.”  

At the same time  police received a complaint of a dead body at Waterworks Informal Settlement (Lenasia) from the paramedics. 

On arrival, officers found paramedics at the crime scene who pointed out to them an unidentified male. 

Ndimande said the paramedics had already certified the victim dead. 

“The deceased sustained gunshot wounds on the upper body. He was estimated to be 29 years of age. The pathologists were summoned to the crime scene and they transferred the deceased to Diepkloof Government Mortuary. The motive for murder is unknown at this stage.

Ndimande also said police received a complaint of shooting at Bungle Street, Lehae Phase 1 RDP houses (Lenasia). 

Officers found two unknown males lying on the ground. 

Ndimande said the victims sustained gunshot wounds, one on the upper body and the other on the lower body. 

He said the paramedics were summoned to the crime scene and certified one male dead.

“The other male was taken to hospital for treatment. It was further alleged that the victims were on the way home from the shop. Suddenly, two  unknown African males approached them and opened fire to them without any provocation. The assailants then ran away.” 

“The police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder, and we appeal to the community to assist us with the information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators, Ndimande said.
